No. Just start using it — the 30 days start the first time you use it.

Not to try it. Signing in (לאג אין, with your email and a 4-digit PIN) saves your work and gives you the same account on the phone line, by email and in the apps. A subscription needs an account.

The tools ask you to sign up for $4 a month or $30 a year. You pay by card on heimishgeredt.com through Stripe; your card number never reaches us.

Write to message@heimishgeredt.com or use the contact page, and we cancel the subscription so you aren't charged again.

Yes. Business and commercial use of the voices is included in the regular plan ($4 a month or $30 a year): phone greetings and menus, ads and announcements. There is no separate business plan and no extra licence fee.

Heimish (Hasidic) Yiddish as people speak it today, written in the Hasidic spelling most heimish readers use. It also transcribes Hebrew and English — choose the language above the tool.

It depends mostly on the recording. Clear speech close to the microphone gives the best text; noise, music and several people talking at once make it harder. Treat the result as a draft and check names and quotes. The best test is a minute of your own audio during the free month.

It was trained to write common loshn-koydesh words in their usual spelling. Names and longer quotes from pesukim, Gemara or seforim are where to check most carefully.

The voices and the grammar tool were made with heimish spelling. You can paste YIVO-spelled text; if a word sounds wrong, try it without the vowel marks. The grammar tool may change YIVO spellings into heimish ones. More in Learn Yiddish by ear.

There are about 20 heimish voices to choose from. Text to speech is still marked beta: most sentences are clear, but a word can sometimes sound off. The voices improve as people donate recordings.

Yes — a WAV file. The שיקט עס (Share) button sends an MP3 copy from a phone, or a link that plays the clip — handy for WhatsApp. If a phone system needs 8 kHz WAV, convert it with a free editor such as Audacity. See Yiddish voicemail greetings.

No fixed limit for transcription, text to speech or grammar. Long recordings and texts take longer; keep the page open while they are processed. For recordings of several hours, email a link.

Yes: 845-599-0895 (a US number). Call from any phone, speak Yiddish, hang up, and the text arrives by email. The first time, it asks for your email and a 4-digit PIN; after that it recognizes your number. The spoken instructions on the line are in English.

Yes. The phone line works from any phone. Kyocera kosher flip phones can also install the keypad keyboard to dictate Yiddish into messages. If your phone can't install apps, use the phone line.

Yes — send a recording or a WhatsApp voice note to transcribe@heimishvurt.com, and the text comes back to the address you sent from. For long recordings, send a Google Drive or Dropbox link set to "Anyone with the link".

Not yet. On an iPhone, use the website, the phone line, or email a voice memo.

Yes. The Windows program types Yiddish wherever your cursor is; the Chrome extension dictates into any text box on any website; the Android keyboard has a microphone key. Download them here.

The whole site, including its server calls, runs on one address — heimishgeredt.com — so a filter only needs to allow that one domain. If something is blocked, ask your filter to allow heimishgeredt.com.

They are processed by our own speech and language systems, on our servers or a rented cloud GPU when we are busy. There are no ads and we don't sell personal data. Some things are kept: large uploaded files (until you ask us to delete them), a log of the latest 300 transcriptions for quality checks, and diagnostic page recordings for up to 30 days. The phone line also uses two outside services: ElevenLabs (to understand the email address and name you say, and as a backup voice for the line's instructions) and OpenAI (only if you ask the line for a translation). The privacy policy has the details.

Open delete account, or choose אויסמעקן אקאונט at the bottom of any page. It immediately deletes your account, saved items and history.

Donate your voice by reading a short passage aloud, and send us examples where the text or the voice came out wrong through the contact page.
